Cold Wave Intensifies Across North India, Dense Fog Disrupts Daily Life

Cold wave and dense fog affect North India as temperatures drop

Cold wave conditions intensified across large parts of North India on Tuesday as minimum temperatures fell significantly below normal, affecting daily life in several states. Dense fog conditions were reported in many areas, leading to reduced visibility and disruptions in road, rail, and air traffic.

Regions including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan experienced harsh winter conditions, with early morning temperatures remaining unusually low. Meteorological officials noted that persistent cold winds and lack of sunlight contributed to the continued cold spell.

Authorities issued advisories urging people to take precautions against cold-related illnesses, particularly among children, the elderly, and those with existing health conditions. Homeless shelters and night shelters in major cities were instructed to remain operational to provide relief from extreme cold.

Transport services were also impacted, with several trains running behind schedule and flights facing delays due to poor visibility caused by dense fog. Traffic movement on highways slowed as drivers exercised caution during early morning hours.

Weather officials indicated that while marginal improvement may occur later in the week, cold wave and fog conditions are likely to persist in isolated pockets across North India. Residents have been advised to stay updated with local weather forecasts and advisories.

According to the India Meteorological Department, cold wave and dense fog conditions are expected to continue in parts of North India.
